I Made It!

Most of you know that I successfully arrived in Limerick, Ireland, but I have not said much more than that. So what have I been up to? I settled into my new quarters. I live in what they call a village. There are many different buildings that have wall-to-wall houses in them. It is almost like a collection of really long townhouses. In each house there are eight people. My house has four gentlemen living on the main floor and four ladies living on the upper floor. Each floor has a bathroom and our main floor has a kitchen. All of us in the house are international students and six of us are from the United States. Everyone is pretty nice.

My first week was full of online orientation. It has been hard to meet people since not a lot has been in person, but there are a few events that I would like to share. The study abroad program of the University of Limerick gave us free tickets to see a show called Celtic Steps. That was held at the auditorium on campus. It was great to go see a show in person. They played traditional Irish music and showed off traditional Irish dances.

On Friday of last week, my contact person for the International Study Abroad program took the four of us who are studying in Limerick out for lunch. She gave us tickets to see King John’s Castle last Saturday.

On Sunday, my floor mates and I went to Cork to walk around and shop. It is a beautiful city. We went for lunch, I bought a warmer rain jacket, and we sat outside eating gelato in 46°F weather. Below are pictures from our trip.
